Is Fergie losing his nerves?

We are all familiar with Alex Ferguson’s mind games and he often uses them to cause unrest among his title rivals. He’s been doing it every time a team would come close to dislodging United from the top, but his latest rants at Manchester City and Liverpool could be the sign that he is nervous after Ronaldo’s departure and maybe he is afraid United’s domestic dominance will come to an end.
Sir Alex started with Manchester City this season calling them ‘a small club with small mentality’, having been ‘provoked’ by Tevez’s move to Eastlands. Even though there is a little chance of City mounting a serious title challenge this season, Fergie didn’t want to risk it and he immediately set the record straight. It seems that MacBoss opted to start from the less serious title rivals and you probably wonder why he skipped Arsenal. Well, it seems that Arsene Wenger is afraid of Ferguson and he did everything he could so that his team do not become serious title contenders and thus escaped Fergie’s wrath. Now it’s Liverpool’s turn and Ferguson clearly wrote them off from the title race, saying that Chelsea were United’s main title rivals. I bet you can anticipate his next move. All these Ferguson’s statements seem to be the proof that the old man is afraid. And he’s got every right to worry. There is no Ronaldo any more, which means that players like Anderson and Nani will have to step in. Who wouldn’t be afraid? Scholes, Giggs and Neville are well past their prime, whereas Valencia will need some time to adapt. Berbatov is desperately underachieving and Hargreaves will recover from injury. The only problem is nobody knows when. Manchester United are weaker than ever and Ferguson is well aware of that. Can their title rivals take advantage of this? We’ll see. © by muaz |
