Gerrard not coming to Malaysia

For the Malaysian Liverpool FC hopefuls, there was some disappointing news as it was confirmed that the captain Steven Gerrard will not be travelling with the team when they visit Bukit Jalil this coming July 16.
He will stay back in England where he continues his rehabilitation programme of an injury that saw him sit out of almost the whole half of last season. Hence, it would be up to vice-captain Jamie Carragher who will travelling with the team to Malaysia in the Asia Tour that also covers Singapore and China. Another star who is missing the trip would be new signing Luiz Suarez who is in Argentina with the Uruguayan team playing in Copa America.

It would be a dream to play for Chelsea – Falcao

Falcao, the FC Porto striker has given the strongest hint that he wants to play for Andre Villas-Boas his former manager in Chelsea.
Since Villas-Boas joined Chelsea, Falcao has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge which he has shrugged off numerous times. Chelsea is said to be a keen follower of Falcao where Villas-Boas wants to bring the Europa League top scorer to London. Porto won the Europa League last season under Villas-Boas with Falcao contributing 17 goals in 14 games. The latter did not disclose which club he ‘dreams’ of playing for but as a big fan of Villas-Boas, it is quite certain he is talking about Chelsea.

Carlos Tevez, who has been flirting with a move away from Manchester City since January has again voiced his intention to leave the Eastlands club and go home to be with his wife and 2 daughters.
He is currently playing with the national team at the Copa America where Argentina plays the host and he has yet again publicly stated his intention to play closer to his family. He said that he has spoken to Khaldoon al Mubarak, the chairman of City about missing home and his family but it is reported that the club is ready to listen to offers of at least £40 million.

Liverpool’s bid for Stewart Downing rejected

Following the exit of Ashley Young, Aston Villa is holding on to their senior players or at least will not allow them to leave for a cheap.
They have since rejected a recent £15million bid by Liverpool for Stewart Downing. Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is said to be a fan of Downing and has seen his targets signing for other clubs including Ashley Young for Manchester United and Gael Clichy to Manchester City. Downing has 2 years left in his contract with Villa and has reportedly submitted a transfer request and is interested in joining the Reds.

No Egos here – Cole on Chelsea

33 year old England international Ashley Cole claims that it would be extremely easy for Andre Villas-Boas, the new Chelsea manager to settle in the club as there are ‘no egos’ in the club, especially among the big stars.
Villas-Boas is the youngest manager in the entire league where he is only 33 years old and has a huge responsibility when he was appointed to take over the helm from Carlo Ancelotti. It seems that Roman Abramovic is very keen on landing the Champions League and he believes that Villas-Boas is the right man to do the job.

Clichy set for to play for City

Gael Clichy, the Arsenal left-back is almost a Manchester City player after he was set to undergo medical on Monday. The £7million transfer has been one of the highlights of the summer which signified the willingness of the billionaires of City to beef up the squad while it also represents a big blow to Arsene Wenger’s plan of building a team.
Clichy was linked with a move away from The Emirates and it was Liverpool who came calling but it seems that Clichy will most likely be joining the big bucks of Manchester instead. He has played for more than 250 games with the Gunners being one of their more consistent players.

I would have joined City if Mourinho left Real – Ronaldo

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently said that he will remain in Real Madrid despite claims that he wants to leave said that the latter would be the case if the manager Jose Mourinho had left.
Mourinho was linked with a move away from the Barnebeu and Manchester City was named as his likely destination after he failed to bring more cup glory to Real Madrid, losing the Spanish title to their bitter rivals. Ronaldo has scored some 86 goals since moving there from Manchester United but has since failed to land any prominent medals, namely the Spanish league title and the Champions League.

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has demanded that he wants trophies playing for the club thereby exerting more pressure on Arsene Wenger who is trying to keep his player.
Nasri said that he will look for challenges elsewhere unless Arsenal is challenging on all fronts next season. His contract is due in the next 12 months and he has yet to sign any extension and has been linked with a move away from The Emirates following the recent development where Cesc Fabregas is said to be on his way out to Barcelona. Gael Clichy too has signed for Manchester City where Wenger has yet to get any new players.

Aquilani back in, Sammy Lee out in Liverpool

Alberto Aquilani, Liverpool’s Italian midfielder said that he is more than happy to return to the club after his one year loan at Juventus failed to convert into a permanent one.
The player joined Liverpool in 2009 but has not been able to command a first time regular place due to injury and form problems and was shipped out last season. Talks for a permanent move to Juventus failed and he now has to return to the club.

Meanwhile, assistant manager Sammy Lee who rejoined the Reds 3 seasons ago after managing Bolton Wanderers have left the club ‘by mutual consent’. With his departure, it is expected the Steve Clarke who as appointed by Kenny Dalglish will take over the number 2 backroom job.

Homosexuality is ‘dirty’ but I have cleared that up, no more lesbians now – Nigerian women’s coach

FIFA has hit out at Eucharia Uche, the national coach of the Nigerian women’s team after her recent controversial remarks that homosexuality is ‘dirty’ and for having trying to force lesbians out of the national team.

The team lost their opening game to France in the opening of the Women’s World Cup in Germany where the coach caused a big media uproar for her statements. She also said that lesbians in the team was a big problem and that it has been ‘cleared up’ since she took over the team and there are now ‘no more lesbians’ in the Nigerian women’s team.
