Switzerland announces Provisional Squad E-mail
Wednesday, 14 May 2008

Switzerland announced their provisional squad for the UEFA EURO 2008 with two players, Patrick Muller and Philipp Degen both given the chance to improve on their fitness after being injured. Muller who plays for Olympique Lyonnais tore his cruciate ligaments 5 months ago and has been at the brink of recovery. He played his first game for the reserves recently while Degen, the right back who playes for Borussia Dortmund suffered a torn muscle. Should he fail to recover on time for the finals, he will be replaced with either one of the three players on standby which includes Blerim Dzemaili from Bolton Wanderers and Reto Ziegler who plays for Sampdoria.

Dzemaili has yet to play in the first team for his club team Bolton Wanderers since his move from FC Zurich since recovering from a cruciate ligament injury. He is now on the standby list since he is still yet to be match fit.

The national team will be having their centralized training in Lugon starting 19 May until 29 May where national team coach would be able to finalize his 23-player squad by then. The deadline to announce the squad is 28 May.  Switzerland Provisional Squad
