Netherlands national coach Marco van Basten has announced his provisional 30 man squad ahead for the UEFA EURO 2008 tournament. but latest development saw that number fall to 29 with the withdrawal of Clarence Seedorf. Van Basten however has said that the final list might not be fully from his provisional squad and would only reveal his final 23 squad come 28 May.

One major surprise would be the inclusion of the uncapped 37 year old goalkeeper Sander Boschker who plays for FC Twente. He got his place through the exclusion of Piet Velthuizen from BV Vitesse but might find himself too being excluded when the squad is trimmed to 26 when the training convenes at Noordwijk.

Van Basten will keep the cards close to his chest stating that he will only reveal the final changes during or after the centralized training where they will be playing some friendlies against Wales, Denmark and Ukraine. This will be his last tournament in charge where he will go on to coach Ajax Amsterdam when this season ends. He said that "Things can happen in just a few weeks.  Players can get injured, lose form and so on."
