Germany celebrates
Germany won their semi finals in a game that seemed to be as good as over the minute it started. Turkey, who only fielded half a team after 9 players were ruled out due to injuries and suspension looked vulnerable at some juncture. But if the Germans thought it was going to be a walk in the park, then they were dead wrong. Dead wrong because it was the Turks who went one up, before Bastian Schweinsteiger equalized for the German. As if the embarrassment was harder to take, it would have been the Turk’s night, who despite fielding an understrenght team, provided the most spark and action to the game.

Then Klose scored in the 79th minute and the night was almost over.

Well, almost.

Turkey came back with an equalizer 4 minutes from time, this time by quarter final hero Semih Senturk. And just when it seemed that extra time is the only way to go, it was heartbreak for the comeback kings when Lahm scored in the last minute of the game.

So the fairytale ends for Turkey who has had such a wonderful journey at the Euro so far and provided so much drama for the tournament.

Its up to Spain and Russia now, who will be having the re-match after Spain beat Russia 4-1 at the first group match.

The first game played without Ashavin, who is sought by Barcelona, and that was then, this is now.

While the Spanish failed to score in the quarter finals, Russia is on a roll after beating tournament favourites Holland. They are hard to stop at the moment, playing a vibrant attacking style that many seemed to have no idea how to counter. Spain has to come out of hibernation mode if they are to inflict any damage on the Russian side, who are riding high on confidence.

Will the fairy tale end for Russia as well and pitch two giants in the finals or is it going to be an underdog against the men of steel.

Whatever the case, Germany awaits.
