Spain looking forward
Day 3 of the UEFA EURO 2008 was filled with 3 sides of the spectrum. A gravely boring game blooms from the start of the France vs Romania game. What a terrible bore that was. The disciplined side of the Romanians seemed to be the more creative side, coming onto the French from all sides while the losing world cup finalists seemed almost too content playing on the counter attack. Although the Les Blues seemed to be closer to goal at times, they were unable to convert via the attacking partnership of Anelka and the more illustrious Benzema, who otherwise has had a quiet outing. The later game was the other side of the spectrum with the World Champions tumbled upon by the more creative and exciting play of the Oranje. So far, the campaign has seen much action but nothing came close to the winning style of the Netherlands beating Italy 3-0. What an outcome that was.

Up close and personal with Day 4, is Group D.

First up: Spain vs Russia – this is going to be Quality vs Team spirit.

Spain, often times have ‘too much quality’ on their side and that could be their downfall. But surely one would be looking forward towards the Villa-Torres partnership and see what they are capable of. Russia, playing without their main guys will have to make do with what they have but their team game would be spearheading their attack this time around. Hiddink has said that they are playing the favourites. Let’s see how this goes.

Second game: Sweden vs Greece – Discipline vs Discipline

Both teams are good on the defence. both teams are hard to break down. Its going to go down to who have better luck. Greece definitely had the best luck in the last tournament, but the defending champions might not have it easy this time. Perhaps in 2004, a lot had underestimated them. Now everyone is ready to topple the champion off.
