Liverpool, amidst all their boardroom problems and turmoil is set to get their next season planning down as soon as possible. They start at their backroom staff. Liverpool is currently in talks to lure former legend midfielder Sammy Lee back to Anfield with an assistant manager role with Rafael Benitez. Sammy Lee is no stranger to the Anfield crowd and after leaving the Kop for a managerial position in Bolton, he was sacked after 4 months at the Reebok. It is believe that he has since been in discussion with Chief Executive Rick Parry of a move back into the Anfield coaching team. The former England international has served under various Liverpool coaches including Graeme Souness and Gerard Houllier where he played the role of first team coach. His other roles at Liverpool was in the reserve team. As a player he has had a legendary run as well. If everything goes well, Lee would most likely be the number 2 at Anfield. This is in the wake of the current first team coach Alex Miller who has since quit the club to head out to the far east to coach Japanese team JEF United Chiba. The club has since been without a number two ever since PAko Ayesteran left in August 2007 and the appointment has since been acknowledged and approved since some of the weaker performances had been contributed by the lack of coaching.
