Chelsea midfielder Shaun Wrigth-Phillips did not attend the national training on Monday but he could well be playing at the friendly against Switzerland though. This was seen as a precautionary step due to his minor injury.  Across the London metro, Spurs player Gareth Bale’s foot injury seemed on the road to recovery but although the cast has been removed, he will probably be sitting out for the rest of the current season. Bale, who incurred the injury during the league game against Birmingham posts a serious ligament damage and recovery is on course but slow.  Gary McAllister, who just took up the gaffer’s post in Elland Road has appointed Steve Staunton as his number 2. With Dennis Wise moving to the north east to become the Director of Football in Newcastle, Staunton will take over from where he left off. Staunton has previously played for McAllister during his time in charge at Coventry City and both played together during Gary’s short spell at Liverpool as well.
