It is a known fact that Newcastle is anywhere but promising. Their story is not new, they have not anything new to show, their manager is not new, perhaps the only thing that is new is perhaps winning their matches. Michael Owen has come out of their last 10 winless streak to admit that they are now at the worst of their fate, rock bottom. He said “Confidence isn’t at its best. There is nervousness throughout the side. We need a win the sooner the better. As soon as we get that I think confidence will come flooding back.” The striker has since scored 2 goals in the Toon’s previous 3 games but have yet to taste victory in all the games and is now a mere 6 points from the danger zone. Even if this is so, Keegan would be delighted to know that the 28 year old striker is not ready to throw in the towel to maintain survival. Owen added that “We’re not at panic stations but we are obviously well aware we need to get a result fast”. Owen has to find his form and that is not the only thing he needs. Keegan has to find his luck, the team has to defend, and Newcastle has to start playing their football again. And that is what they are capable of.
