Internazionale Milan has announced that Roberto Mancini has been relieved off his duties as team manager, which means he can now pursue the widely speculated Chelsea manager post.

Mancini, who steered the Narazzurri toward the league title after the final game mentioned that he would quit the post after losing in the quarter finals of the Champions League to Liverpool where he changed his mind some 24 hours later. This however did not go too well with the fans and the board, who in the wake of the season ended, decide to part ways.

The club issued a statement that said "FC Internazionale have communicated to Mr Mancini his dismissal from the position of first-team coach, particularly because of the declarations made by the coach after the Inter-Liverpool match on March 11, (because) of what has followed, and furthermore the facts which recently emerged in the newspaper stories."

A meeting was held between club president Massimo Moratti and Mancini’s agent a few days ago, which the agent claimed that a decision has been reached and Mancini is no longer at the club, a statement met with much protest from the club. He even claimed that Jose Mourinho has been appointed as the new club manager, another statement refuted by the club.

A statement released said "In regard to certain reports released in the media containing the reconstruction of conversations held at the meeting last Tuesday between Massimo Moratti and the coach Roberto Mancini, FC Internazionale informs that: "Whether written or reported, or only partially reproduced, these reports do not correspond to the truth of the facts. Furthermore the meeting was entirely professional and well mannered and the coach never showed any lack of respect to the president Massimo Moratti. Therefore, due to the damaging nature of some of the reports to the image of this club, the right to legal action is reserved against anyone who continues to report reconstructions of the conversation that do not correspond to the truth of the facts."

The replacement has yet to be announced but most speculators believe that Jose Mourinho will be appointed who has publicly said that he will bring Lampard, Carvalho and Drogba to the club if he is the manager.
