Who says there are no magic in the FA Cup? Livepool was sent crushing out of the legendary FA Cup last night by Championship League team Barnsley in unique fashion, and to rub it in way much more, at Anfield. Barnsley came from a goal down to plunder a dramatic winner in stoppage time and book their place in the last eight of the FA Cup. It has been 2 seasons since Liverpool won the FA Cup after winning the oldest football trophy in the world coming from behind to beat West Ham in penalties in 2006. Losing to Arsenal last season was painful but to a lower league team, Benitez will definitely be feeling the stick. Many believe that the Champions League will be the last nail on the coffin. If Liverpool fails to get past Italian leaders Inter Milan in Europe, it will be a trophyless season again, and most probably bye bye Rafa too. Who would have predicted this scoreline, where dreams and nightmares are concerned and as how karma comes around, Ricky Lambert, a former Liverpool schoolboy released when he was 15, and to score a winner in stoppage time over the 7 times cup winners would be the best return gift one could hand over. Whether it was deflected or not, it doesn’t matter which he say, "It was a big deflection, but I've got to claim it as it's on target,", nothing really matters this time, Liverpool is out again, and Barnsley is heading to the quarterfinals brimming in confidence.
