In what is building up to one of the biggest games this season, Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has come out and accused Manchester United boss for attempting to manipulate the match referee Steve Bennett for their teams’ upcoming game this Sunday. This is in light of the repeated comments made by Sir Alex for his star player Christiano Ronaldo to receive more protection from game officials. He stated his fears that with the kind of tactics deployed by other teams, his winger will soon be driven out of the league, and this is what he saw after Man Utd’s lost to Portsmouth in the FA Cup. For saying all that, Benitez believe that it is all mindgames, something Sir Alex is famous for, especially when big games are looming. He said “Ferguson is clever, that is clear, after a difficult game, he was talking about referees and before an important game he is talking about protecting Ronaldo.”

Whoever is officiating the game, perhaps this would be where the title race will be decided. A one nil loss at Anfield brings about the taste of revenge for the Kop and as they have since found their form with Fernando Torres scoring consistently and breathing down Ronaldo’s neck in top scoring, it would be a huge huge game and both teams will be up to the challenge.
