Liverpool and Australia winger Harry Kewell has yet to surrender in his hope of landing a new contract. So far, he has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Anfield by boss Rafael Benitez. So far he has admitted that it is an almost impossible task and although his contract runs until this summer, he will still try his best to get a new contract to remain at Merseyside. Benitez has even allowed him to return to Australia to play with the national team for their World Cup qualifiers with the last remaining lap of the Premier League in hand. Even if this is so, he is upbeat about his chance and believe that he still has what it takes to make it to the first eleven, at least for next season. He said “I've got a contract until the end of the season and I'm still fighting for another one. I've got the Aussie spirit of never say die and I'll take that all the way until the end. The best thing for me is to get some games so I can be fighting fit for Liverpool. I've just got to play football. I've been through some good times and bad times and I've realised I just want to play football, that's the important thing.”
