Arsenal player Eduardo da Silva suffered a horrific injury in the last match with Birminghan at St Andrews. The game halted for almost 10 minutes with only 2 minutes played when Birmingham defender Martin Taylor launched a scary challenge on Eduardo. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said, 'The tackle was horrendous and this guy (Taylor) should never play football again,' Wenger said. 'I've seen some bad ones before but you are not always punished with a broken leg. 'The minimum is that the season is over and we're scared it is much longer.' While Alex McLeish, Birmingham’s manager shared some similar sentiments saying 'He's absolutely distraught, he's not that type of player,' he said. 'He didn't feel he made that much contact with Eduardo.' Perhaps to soften the fact that Arsenal’s title hopes were dented after the final result that saw Birmingham catch a final minute penalty, in his attempt to divert attention from the result, he added, 'It goes along with the idea... that to stop Arsenal, you have to kick Arsenal,That kind of thing was waiting to happen. It's not acceptable. If that is football, it's better to stop it.’ Taylor was sent off with a Red card straightaway while most of Eduardo’s teammates who walked over to check on his condition mostly walked away distraught, mostly covering their mouth or heads in disbelief. Commentators were heard saying ‘the injury was so horrific we could not show it to you’. From that point onwards, medical staff were giving him attention before he was whisked away directly to the hospital.
