Guus Hiddink, the current Russia coach will not be taking over Chelsea next season. At least that’s what he is saying and suggests that Frank Rijkaard will be a better choice to replace the ineffective Avram Grant at Stamford Bridge.
Rijkaard was his assistant at the 1998 World Cup when he was coaching the Dutch national team and commented that “He could fit very well in this philosophy. He is very open person to the people he is working closely with.”
He has since reinstated his commitment to the Russian team all the way to the 2010 World Cup and said that “Everyone is speculating because it is not signed officially but there is an agreement between the president of the Russian Federation and me to continue. The only contact I have had with Chelsea has been with (Roman) Abramovich about the development of Russian football.'
The Dutchman added that he feels for Grant and said that the club are emphasizing too much on winning silverware that the coach has no time to develop his players. He said that” If they did not put so much pressure to get two or three cups every year, I would imagine they would start to play even better,”
