The English FA has written an official enquiry to Chelsea boss Avram Grant for an explanation for this outburst towards referee Steve Bennett.
Grant who was clearly dissatisfied over the refereeing duties held by Steve Bennett in handling the Man Utd vs Wigan Athletic last weekend where the Red Devils came out victorious and thereby winning the title along the way. Chelsea on the other hand drew their last game which effectively put them out of the title race.
Bennett, who has been in the spotlight this season following some doubtful decisions came under fire when he failed to award the penalty to Wigan while keeping Paul Scholes on the field, choosing not to give him a second yellow card.
Grant, who at the Champions League Media conference had said that “I told you that I believed in the tradition of the fair English game. I will not say anything against it. But what happened is what I expected. In England there are very good referees, but there are some - a few that you can influence, like you saw. I think in our game against Manchester United at Old Trafford, the referee (Mike Dean) influenced the result for sure. We know that. I think the red card for Mikel John Obi in that game should not have been a red card, I think that Paul Scholes should have had a red card on Sunday and Wigan a penalty also. But it is finished. I congratulate Manchester United.'
