![]() Old Trafford Bound? But this seemed to be less likely the case for Ronaldo, who after his ankle injury will have to be sitting out for the next three months or so. Doctors have so far predicted that the earliest time he will be back in action perhaps would be in October. But that is the least of his concerns at the moment. Michael Carrick, who will be playing in and out of Ronaldo’s position would most likely be more than happy to field his shoes for the moment while waiting for his recovery, after all, there is that slight chance that Carrick might just hold that position for good. And with the way things are at the moment, that seems most likely. Team coach, Sir Alex Ferguson was slated to fly to Lisbon to meet Ronaldo to discuss over the whole ‘I want to go to Madrid’ dream of his, and Sir Alex is known to have that cutting edge when trying to plead for his players to stay, but if he gets annoyed, nothing can make him sell you. That’s what happened to players like Beckham, who knows his boss best. The trip to Lisbon was then cancelled, with news reporting that Ferguson decided to stay back in Manchester so that he can try and concentrate on bringing Dimitar Berbatov from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford. Apparently Manchester United had earlier submitted a £20million bid for the Bulgarian striker but was turned down and it was believed that Spurs had wanted something close to £30million before they can sit down and talk. Latest reports showed that the two clubs had since come to an agreement for £2million less than what Spurs are asking for. Manchester United is willing to secure the Bulgarian’s services for a whooping £28million. Should the Red Devils sell Ronaldo to Real Madrid, this would be a profit buy. Good business sense. According to reports, Man Utd will pay £18million up front with the rest payable depending on the player’s appearance and performance. Berbatov who is no stranger to the Premier League has been linked away from White Hart Lane numerous times over the season and with the season looming, his arrival to Old Trafford would be one that’s most welcomed. |
