Steven Gerrard scoring the 2nd goal
It came some time a bit too late for John Terry, but saw himself scoring a goal for the English national team against USA in a friendly. This would be suiting for Terry, who failed to convert his penalty for his club a week ago thereby causing Chelsea to lose out as Europe Champions. The preparation for the World Cup qualifiers head out to a great start for Fabio Capello’s team which started off quite poorly. England then went ahead in the second half thanks to a goal by Steven Gerrard who played on the left flank instead of his much preferred center midfield role.

England is scheduled to play Trinidad and Tobago next in 4 day’s time before taking time off the summer as other European teams head out to Austria and Switzerland for the upcoming UEFA EURO 2008 tournament.

Steven Gerrard, the man of the match was put on the left wing, a position he is not very much used to. Gerrard played mostly out of his position but would have been lucky that everytime he is out of position, he pulled in some threat to the American defense.

It was pretty much England from the start, as Terry steps up as the captain, pretty much commanding in his role he took on very maturely under the former England coach Steve Mclaren.

Beckham, who returned from the States to play against his employer’s country, played considerably well before David Bentley was sent in during half time.

But it was only after Gareth Barry, who is a player Liverpool boss is after was introduced that he provided the pinpoint pass to Gerrard to slot it home.
