Alike most defending champions, AC Milan crashed out of the competition with an embarrassing loss to visiting English team Arsenal. The first English team to ever come to San Siro and manage a win, the record was broken in distinguishing fashion when the Gunners came with an objective in mind. And achieving the objective is what they did. two late goals from Francesc Fabregas and Emmanual Adebayor sealed victory for Arsene Wenger’s boys who displayed great team work in a game that started goal less from the first leg in London. The London team traveled to Milan with confidence but was very cautious of the record that no English team has ever won at the San Siro. Fabregas earlier hit the crossbar, but saw his 25-yard shot hit the back of the net with 6 minutes remaining. In stoppage time, Adebayor put the visitors winners beyond doubt when he netted the second. At peak attendance, the San Siro was packed to the brim, Milan fans singing and chanting their team on, but Milan find it difficult to get their momentum against the resilient Gunners who were excellent at the back and taking control at midfield. For a visiting team, Arsenal was not ready to sit back and defend, instead they went on the offensive throughout the game, with chance after chance after chance only to find it late to find fruit. Liverpool, who have a similar fixture next week against Milan rivals Inter at the same venue can take heart although they have a 2 goal cushion, as the English team winning at San Siro record has been broken.
