Following the exit of Ashley Young, Aston Villa is holding on to their senior players or at least will not allow them to leave for a cheap.
They have since rejected a recent £15million bid by Liverpool for Stewart Downing. Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is said to be a fan of Downing and has seen his targets signing for other clubs including Ashley Young for Manchester United and Gael Clichy to Manchester City. Downing has 2 years left in his contract with Villa and has reportedly submitted a transfer request and is interested in joining the Reds.
